I had Symantec Norton AntiVirus 2001 running real time scan on NT4 400Mhz machine, 384Mb RAM. Access 2000 was running real slow. Forms seemed to be ok, not bad but simple table datasheet view took 1 second. I stopped NAV realtime scan and things went back to normal (i.e. fairly good) speed.

If you want to import a text file into Access 97, remember that the name of the file has to have an extension of .asc, .txt, .csv. The Import Wizard uses that extension as part of it's thinking process.

If you export to Excel 97 / 2000 from Access 97, 2000, the built-in routine exports as an Excel 7.0 file. Which means the file format is not exactly what you requested and there is a 16,000 row limit.
