Creating quality
product literature is not as simple as it looks.
|
|
You need to: |
•
Photograph the products •
Come up with a design layout appropriate for the products
• Write and edit the copy
• Scan and retouch
the images • Create
compelling graphics and logos • Choose appropriate
color schemes
• Combine these
elements into an electronic document that the printer can work
with
|
| Before
you do it yourself, think about this... |
It is true that you or someone within your organization could
create sales and product literature (in house) using the
design and layout software programs that are now easily
available. But unless the individual is a competent graphic
artist who has proven experience creating sales and product literature, it
would be very unwise to do so without the assistance of a
professional, such as Digistat. It would be similar
to asking your neighbor to perform heart surgery on you just because
he has gained access to the local hospital's operating room and has
cut things with a knife before. This analogy may seem extreme
but your organization's life depends on the way it is presented to
the public. The only thing worse than no advertising is bad advertising.
|
| Does
this mean you should not create any promotional material in house? |
No, but if you do, make sure that you have a well
defined plan and guidelines for how all your organization's
literature should look. Consistency is very important!
It is best to have a qualified person or
company be involved with setting up these guidelines and to check and edit each piece to make sure that it truly reflects
the image you are trying to present.
|
| Don't
take chances with your organization's image... |
Let Digistat's design consultants be a part of your team. We can
either assist persons within your own organization to create compelling
product literature, or our own staff can do the entire project. Either
way your message or products will be presented in a way that you can be
proud of.
|
| Something
to remember...
|
|
Make sure all literature is designed so that it can be quickly made
available in many formats. For example, the same printed spec sheet
sent out via US mail should also be available on your organization's web
site as both a web page and as a downloadable Adobe Acrobat file which
could be printed on any printer. This flexibility is only achieved
by early planning in the design phase. Let Digistat help you develop a
comprehensive plan for all your literature needs. Digistat's
expertise is a cost savings to you in the long run!
